New England officers discovered the 68-year-old this week and he was taken by paramedics to Armidale hospital.
Police had been searching for Mr Duckett but failed to find any trace in Tamworth before a public appeal earlier this month led officers to the New England, where there had been reported sightings.
New England Inspector Roger Best said while Mr Duckett had been found safely, Missing Persons Week was raw for many families still searching for loved ones, especially in the local area.
“Unfortunately, these families are still asking where their son or brother or cousin or father is and that is not easy,” he told The Leader.
“We follow every lead or possible sighting up but sometimes there are missing pieces in the puzzle, which is traumatic for these families.”

Across the New England, Moree’s William ‘John’ Torrens, Bingara’s Darren ‘Spaz’ Willis and Armidale’s William ‘Bill’ Roach remain missing, along with Goondiwindi’s Terry Lloyd.
Moree man William ‘John’ Torrens was last seen on the morning of January 5, 2018, as he left a Moree nursing home in Victoria Terrace.
At the time he was wearing a short-sleeve green button-up shirt, dark-coloured shorts, black socks, brown shoes, black glasses and carrying a white plastic bag.
Officers have followed several unconfirmed sightings of the 73-year-old in both NSW and into Queensland, but he’s still missing.
Detectives believe a yellow ute could hold the key to what happened to Darren Willis after his murder in December 2010. Officers have persons of interest in the case and have searched an area out of Bingara in June for his remains.
A $350,000 reward is on offer for anyone that leads detectives to his killers.
A $100,000 reward is up for any information on the disappearance of Armidale student William ‘Bill’ Roach, who vanished on New Year’s Eve in 2003.
Mr Lloyd has been missing since November 24, 2015. The 51-year-old’s vehicle was found a little more than a week later in the Pilliga Forest about 150km south of Narrabri, crashed into a tree.
In the Oxley area, detectives are still searching for the remains of murdered mother Johann Morgan, who was killed by her partner in 2015.
A $350,000 reward remains for any information that leads police to her remains.
