But it’s not the side’s defence that coach Evan Quaife first spoke about when asked where DK needed to fire when they meet the ladder leaders on Saturday for the third time this season.
“Goals win games. We’re not going to win without scoring goals,” Quaife said.
Where the goals come from for Demon Knights, Quaife doesn’t exactly know.
Naran Singh tops the scoring for DK this year with 10 goals but there’s a string of other players who have found the back of the net regularly this season.
“The goals are shared around a little bit. That’s how we like to do it. We don’t rely on one player to score goals,” Quaife said.
“I think about half a dozen players have scored six or more. We just need one of those six to get a couple goals.
“It makes it easier when you’re not playing a style that’s focused on getting it to one player to score the goals.
“It means we’re a bit more dangerous across the park.”
Quaife didn’t completely gloss over the importance of his back-line, though.
He said DK will have to be “defensively solid” while taking their “chances when they come”.
“We’ll give it our best shot and see if we can wreck their undefeated season,” Quaife said.
Quaife also highlighted the need to shut down players like Kurt Barrow, Jackson Haussler and Troy Hearfield if Demon Knights are to claim victory.
The sides will clash at Johnson Field.
