Armidale Regional Council is offering residents a chance to spend a ‘Day In Our Shoes’ as part of Local Government Week 2018.
Mayor Simon Murray encouraged people to participate in the event.
“Many people are not aware of the great diversity of career opportunities in local government or, more specifically, what many of those roles actually involve,” Cr Murray said.
“Day In Our Shoes is a chance for people to experience one or two of the many rewarding positions and see how working in local government enables people to make very positive contributions to their community.
“It also helps to simply raise community awareness of what Council does and how it is an integral part of the community is so many ways.”
Interested community members can spend a day on the job with a council officer, in the role of their choice on Tuesday, August 7.
There are a wide variety of positions available including library and visitors centre staff, health and building officers, rangers, parks and gardens, IT, engineering, customer service, communications and even a day with the mayor.
Participating community members can opt to spend the day with one staff member or spend the morning in one section and the afternoon with another.
Positions are limited to one community per staff member, so act quickly to grab a spot.
