Willis and his nominated Games mount, Blue Movie, finished ninth in the Continental Grand Prix and fourth in the 1.60 metre Queen Elizabeth Grand Prix.
His most impressive performances came aboard Everse W who took out the 1.50m Friends of the Meadows Jump Off as well as the prestigious 1.45m Sun Life Financial derby on the event’s final day. He was the first Australian to do so.
The derby is one of the toughest events of the Spruce Meadows tournament with only 21 riders and horses from 689 attempts jumping clear rounds in its history.
Willis only conceded one time fault and was the only rider to not knock a rail.
