After a dominant 38-point win over Warialda in round 13, the Uralla team travelled up the highway with plenty of confidence but were greeted by a determined Tenterfield outfit.
Leading 14-6 at half-time, the visitors didn’t manage to score a point in the second stanza as their opponents came out firing. Tenterfield scored a try and came within a whisker of scoring another late in the game before Uralla denied them and claimed the win 14-10.
Uralla coach Kerry Brett believes his team were up to the task but credited Tenterfield for their plucky effort.
“Our guys didn't play badly, some fantastic passages of play, but their [Tenterfield’s] scrambling defence was unbelieveable,” he said.

“They kept coming at us in defence and stuck in there in attack and got a couple of tries.”
It was an intense encounter to watch Uralla found themselves flustered a handful of times.
“A few crucial penalties. A couple really pushing their line for spinning and jumping and things that they should know not to do,” Brett said.
“I have been saying for weeks that they were capable of it and they certainly gave us a scare.”
Tenterfield have been the big improvers in the second division league tag and, while they may miss the finals this year, Brett hailed them as a team to watch next season.
“I am not disappointed they are not in the finals. Warialda and Bingara have been playing good but just didn't have the flair of Tenterfield on the weekend,” he said.
