On Saturday, East Armidale took on Tamworth-based North Companions and notched up another win to land third place on the table.
Jake Davies and Brent Pedlow found the back of the net to help their side claim a 2-nil win.
Across town, Norths United took on South Armidale in a firey encounter.
Norths’ Cody McCann scored a hat-trick while Declan Druitt, Harry George and Tom Model also found the back of the net in their side’s 6-1 triumph.
On Sunday, the Redmen couldn’t back up their previous day’s win as they took on Demon Knights in a catch-up game from round six.
After having the bye for round 14, fresh legs proved an advantage for DK as they romped home to a 5-nil win.
“They [Norths] had players back up from reserve grade, they played the day before and towards the end they looked like they were out on their legs really,” DK coach Evan Quaife said.
“We were quite dominant towards the end.”
Sunday’s win continues DK’s recent form after beating Norths 3-1 the week prior and Oxley Vale Attunga 5-1 two weeks earlier.
This Saturday the side face North Companions who staged a late comeback the last time the two sides clashed to snag a draw.
Quaife is hoping his team continue their current form.
“They drew with us in the last game and I was very disappointed with our performance on that day,” he said.
“It is always a close game with North Companions. I think we beat them in the early game [3-nil] but nearly every time we have played them the last few years there has only been a goal in it.
“I would prefer there is more than a goal this time, the way we have been playing, if we replicate the way we have been going we will probably be very hard to beat but if we don't turn up, the right intensity and right mental awareness for the game, we will come unstuck.”
