Tamworth Swans coach Paul Kelly says they are ticking boxes that they hadn’t even set goals for, after notching their first win over Narrabri in Narrabri for “a long time” on Saturday.

The 14.14-.98 to 8.5-53 win was the Swan’s fourth of the season as their revival continues – a revival that has them daring to dream of playing finals.
At the start of the season that suggestion probably would have elicited a response along the lines of Darryl Kerrigan’s-famed ‘Tell 'em they're dreamin'!’
But after posting back to back wins for the second time this season the Swans are on the cusp of the four.
“We played really well. It was good to win away from home,” Kelly said.
It was their first win on the road for a couple of seasons, and the first time they’ve beaten the Eagles at Narrabri since, from Kelly’s recollection, probably 2009.
“Every Saturday we seem to tick something off that we haven’t done for a long time,” he said.
On Saturday they produced a pretty consistent performance across the four quarters in what were tricky conditions.
“It was blowing down towards one end but across as well,” Kelly said.
Chris Walker and Jack Richards – making a cameo appearance while on uni holidays – both kicked five, Kelly pointing to their ability to score as one of the big differences to recent seasons.
“We might have had 50 per cent of the ball but we couldn’t score goals,” he said.
“Now we’re scoring when we get inside our forward 50.”

At the other end the back six offered the Eagles few opportunities.
“Everytime Narrabri went forward we just repelled it most of the time,” Kelly said.
“They had to work really hard for their goals.”
It was hard to pick their best but Kelly did made mention of Ed George and Richards.
Tamworth Kangaroos’ thumping win over New England has made the finals assignment that big tougher for the Swans, giving them a 40 per cent advantage, but Kelly believes they are still a good chance.
”We’re playing better every week. We beat the Kangaroos by more we beat them the first time and we beat Narrabri by more than we did the first time,” he said.
“There are games there that are winnable for us.”
