SCORES of people ventured to the University of New England for a NAIDOC Week ceremony on Monday.
The short ceremony included speeches from Vice-Chancellor Annabelle Duncan, community member Lisa Waters and UNE student Ali Archibald.
Ali Archibald, of Guyra, share on her experiences as an Indigenous woman and the important women in her life.
It also featured a smoking ceremony, didge, flag-raising and dance by the Duval Deadly Dancers followed by morning tea.
This year’s NAIDOC Week theme is ‘Because of her, we can’ which brings celebrates the important role of women.
NAIDOC celebrations are held around the country each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.
