Google says it has resolved the problem that resulted in many of its Home Assistants crashing for several hours on Thursday.
In a tweet around 8.20am, technicians said the issue had been resolved and would automatically roll out in the following six hours.
Users should reboot their devices for the fix to take effect.
Forbes had earlier speculated that the glitch may have been caused by a security update intended to increase privacy.
Several Google Home functionalities, including music, timers and smart home controls were reportedly down for many users.
Google confirmed the problem in a reply tweet around 1am on Thursday morning saying “We don't have a time frame, but rest assured that our team is working hard to have this fixed”.
In the same thread, one user reported that factory resetting their device appeared to have fixed the problem.
Meanwhile, a Google message board received complaints from users on the receiving end of the “glitch”.
Mashbale reported earlier that Chromecasts had also been inoperable for several hours.
