I have had a mere four days to learn about journalism and what they do here at Armidale Express. I have enjoyed every second of it, and if given the choice, I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
I have met so many lovely and encouraging people, who taught me about my interests in journalism. I have gone out with other journalists to talk to people and see behind the scenes of the events and the news stories that reach everyone else.
It has been an amazing experience, and probably one that I will carry with me for years to come.

Students in the workplace
In Armidale’s local music store, Black Dot, we talked to two students who were on work experience from Duval High School.
Both Elliot Mair and Brandon Sullivan have a passion for music, between them playing more than seven instruments. But still they have more instruments that they would love to learn.
Brandon loves music so much that he wants to pursue a career in the industry, whereas Elliot, on the other hand, thinks he’ll head more in the direction of engineering.
Both of the boys enjoyed their time at Black Dot, and Brandon was sure that if he got the chance, he would do it all again.
“My favourite part of the week was probably playing all of the different instruments,” Brandon said.
“I didn’t expect to be making so many drum kits,” Elliot said, saying he found great joy in putting them together though.
When we went to Sandon Primary School, we met with Jesse Dwyer, who has been working with a conjoined Year 1 and 2 class.
Jesse wants to pursue a career in education, and really enjoyed working at Sandon.
She said she enjoyed being a good role model for the kids and helping them to learn.
“At first they might say, ‘who is this?’ But they’ve gotten used to me now,” Jesse said when asked about meeting with the kids.
She also said that she would happily work in other education facilities, such as a high school, where she would like to major in English.
Jesse enjoyed her week at the school, and said that if she could repeat anything, it would be the entire week, just so she could do it all again.
