Prior to the clash against the Tigers, the Spuds had found form by knocking off Warialda and Tenterfield.
Against Uralla, Spuds player-coach Anthony Dittman said it was a below-par performance by his team and they have to be back at their best this Sunday to beat the Roos.
“We have a lot of potential, we just have to put it together,” he said.
“We've got a well balanced team so if the forwards have a big game we can play off the back of that.”
The Spuds and Walcha haven’t met this season with the Roos forfeiting their round three men’s game.
While Walcha are yet to post a win this season year, Dittman isn’t expecting them to be a walkover.
“What we do at training we need to bring to the paddock,” he said.
“Walcha might be on the bottom of the table but we know we are going to have our hands full and will be a tough and physical game.”
With the long weekend a general bye, the Spuds are fresh and ready to fire.
They are expecting injured troops to return this Sunday.
“Should have a full strength side with a couple of our injured players returning,” Dittman said.
In the league tag, the Spudettes face the second-placed Jillaroos team.
After putting in their best performance of the season against Uralla, the Guyra side are aiming to take the wind out of Walcha’s sails.
“It should be a good game this week,” coach Graham Smith said.
“We just need to put the same effort in that we did against Uralla.
“We only had one sub and they probably had six or seven on the bench.
“I was happy with the effort they put in and it was only towards the end they got away from us.”
While the men’s didn’t take the field in round three, the league tag did with Walcha taking a 38-nil win.
This time round, Guyra want to turn the tables on their opponents.
“We worked on some things last night [Tuesday] at training and we will just see how we go this weekend,” Smith said.
“We don’t have a lot of experienced players like Walcha do, we are a pretty young side.
“The players that have started this year have really come a long way.”
With the young squad having half a season under their belts, Smith is expecting them to add to their one win of the season which they secured in round one against Tenterfield.
“I am pretty sure we will win a few games in the last round,” he said.
“If they keep putting that effort in every week we will win more games than we lose.”
