Willis and his champion mare Blue Movie were included alongside Edwina Tops-Alexander, Scott Keach, Billy Raymont and Jamie Kermond on the list, which will be reduced to four for the Games in September.
Since Willis and Blue Movie’s inclusion on Equestrian Australia’s long-list at the end of February, the pair have been in top form including a podium finish with a third at the 3* invitational grand prix in Kentucky earlier this month.
“It’s very exciting,” he said of being short-listed.
“Blue Movie is on great form this year.
“We are off to Spruce Meadows [in Calgary, Canada] for four 5* shows in June and July, it is one of the biggest shows in the world so hopefully it is great preparation.
“I think we could have a strong team, which will be great.”
