The cute dog in the picture was rescued from a “puppy farm” in such a bad state that his hair had to be shaved off because of its health-threatening, matted dirtiness.
“Sammy”, as he’s now called, is being cared for in Glen Innes. He is timid and being brought back to physical and mental health by Jan Ryan.
It’s part of the RSPCA’s efforts inthe town.
On Sunday, it’s organsing a walk and fete at the King George Oval to raise money.
Organiser Brigitte Burridge said the cost of entra was $2 per person or $5 per family and $5 per dog. The money would go to the RSPCA.
the event will involve a string of competitions for dogs – best working dog, most obedient dog, best dressed dog, funniest dog and similar contests.
The day would culminate with a walk of the dogs around the parks of Glen Innes.
Registration is at the King George Oval at 9 am and the event finishes around noon.
There will be a barbecue. No hot dogs, just a sausage sizzle.
