Hayley performed her own Highland Choreography Solo routine, to a Scottish medley, which she created herself.

The Armidale School student said she was thrilled when she took out the top spot.

“I was so surprised because I didn’t think I was actually going to win. It was really good,” she said.

She said the best part of participating in competition is meeting other like minded individuals.

The routine was made up of various highland dance movements including the Highland Laddie, Hornpipe, Irish Jig and Blue Bonnets.
