Ms Epworth, of The Habadashery Club, said the campaign aimed to promote awareness about the initiative.

“Fashion Revolution Movement is a global initiative and encourages fashion as a positive influence,” she said.

“It’s been running for five years and the Fashion Revolution Week encourages brands, consumers to consider where clothes come from and who made them.

“So I did some research on the movement and decided to throw this event.”

The clothing label is hosting a series of hands-on, introductory workshops on Saturday which will focus on sustainable design ideas to encourage a more conscious approach to consuming fashion and textiles. 

The event will include an information session, clothes swap, prize draw as well as workshops on how to use natural based dyes workshop and how to use patching, embroidery and appliqué to mend clothes and give new life to an old garment.

“I would love people to think about the way they consume their clothes including how they look after their clothes,” Ms Epworth said about the event. 

“So instead of thinking of garments as disposable consider how they can extend its life. We need to regroup and think about how we consume.”

The Fashion Revolution is a global movement that promotes transparency, ethical practice and sustainability throughout the fashion industry. 

It aims to show that change is possible and encourages those who are on a journey to create a more ethical and sustainable future for fashion.

Ms Epworth said the more she researched sustainable design the more she fell in love with it. 

After more than a year of preparing, including pattern designing, she launched the handmade sustainable clothing brand late last year. 

”I have been sewing forever … and this was always in the back of my mind,” Ms Epworth said.

“I had heaps of help and support from my friends and family.

"My intention is to create not just a label, but a club-like environment where the slow fashion movement is embraced and environmental consciousness is reflected through our consuming choices."

The free workshops will be held tomorrow at Charlie’s Last Stand from 12pm. No booking required – walk-ins very welcome.
