The idea to bring the two centres together was brought about by Wollomombi local Brian Mullens and Hillgrove’s Jason Walker and Chris Brodbeck.
“We were at an RFS social night and said ‘we need to do something for Anzac Day,’” Brodbeck said.
“We just wanted to do something to get our two communities involved because there isn’t much happening out this way, apart from our RFS social night.
“We wanted to see how it would go and hopefully we can have it every year as an annual event.
“We have all the facilities here and we just wanted to use them.”
This year’s hosts, Hillgrove, took the win after Wollomombi were all out for 115.
The home side climbed to 142.
It is hoped the two communities will continue to come together every year for Anzac Day.
