Woolworths has fixed a nationwide technical issue that left shoppers with trolleys full of groceries but no way to pay.
“We can confirm that an IT issue impacted registers in our supermarkets for a short period of time this afternoon,” a Woolworths spokesperson said.
“The registers are now back online in all our stores. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

TAMWORTH’S two Woolworths have been thrown into chaos by a nationwide outage that forced registers to shut down, leaving the stores with no way to make sales.
Tamworth resident Dan Norris said had been waiting in line with a trolley full of groceries when East Point Woolworth staff told everyone they couldn’t process any items.
“The ques were 10-deep when they told us there was a problem,” Mr Norris told The Leader.
“They said it could be fixed in two minutes or five hours, and that we could try to wait it out or dump our groceries where they were.
“The carpark cleared pretty quickly after that. I was laughing to be honest, you should have seen the faces on [the customers]. Some of them were not happy.”
More to come.
