CSC Gold captain Mitchell Northam won the toss and sent Servies in to bat. Maroon batted their 25 overs to finish with 6-115. Jessie Marshall starred with a brilliant 28 retired not out and was supported by Ben Higgnett (16no) Jack Lockyer (14no) and Brayden Grieve (13no).
Servies took to the field and were able to defend their total, restricting CSC Gold to be all out for 104.
Servies’ Joe Schmude (2-2) Cooper Collins (2-20) were the main destroyers with Jack Lockyer and Stewart Parsons taking one wicket each.
Servies’ coach Peter Collins said it was the team’s effort in the field rather than with the ball that was most impressive with Brayden Grieve having three direct throw run outs and Jessie Marshall one.
Collins was “extremely proud of the team work, sportsmanship and dedication his team has shown not just this season but in the last three they have been together.”
“There are kids from four different schools that make up the Maroon team and to see them come together and form such a strong bond, this is the greatest achievement of the team in the coaches opinion,” he said.
“Victories are good, but it is more important that we aid these kids in becoming good sportsman and develop values that will assist them in their futures.”
“The CSC team is to be commended for a great season. They set the bench mark having defeated Ex-Services Maroons in their only other meeting this year.”
