Armidale Show photography competition attracts 368 entries | PHOTOS

The 2018 Armidale and New England Show attracted strong crowd numbers on Friday and Saturday, with highly successful events and competition, such as the photography competition and flower show.

This year saw 368 photographs entered, by 55 entrants. There 85 entries in the Under 12’s, 79 in the Under 18’s and 204 in the Opens.

The quality and diversity of entries was a rewarding result for the volunteers and sponsors who made this competition (like many others at the show) possible.

The Rural Photo category particularly impressed the Judges, along with the standard of the junior entries.

The grand champion Photo of the Show was awarded to Sue Jaggar, for a black and white photo of a boy sweeping a rustic old shearing shed floor.

In addition to traditional ribbons, donated prizes and two perpetual trophies were presented. The Eunice Parsons Perpetual Trophy for the best 18 years and under entry Georgia McMahon, with a seascape photo, featuring a small boat.

The John Strahle Perpetual Trophy for the Faces of New England category winner was Greg Mills, for a character-packed photograph of an older Aussie male with his horse.

The Lu. Danieli Perpetual Trophy for best black and white of the show went to Lucy Keeping. The PLC student bested more experienced adult photography enthusiasts with a photo of her poddy lambs.
