Now, Uralla Shire Council has lent a helping hand – donating $18,630 of in kind support to BlazeAid.
Mayor Michael Pearce said it’s great news for the property owners in Bundarra.
“They’ve been hit really hard by the recent fires, council is letting the BlazeAid volunteers utilise the caravan park and town hall free of charge,” he said.
“An ex-copper mate of mine actually works as a volunteer for BlazeAid and he said the properties he went to were just completely devastated.
“The landowners are down in the dumps but when BlazeAid turned up it really boosted their spirits, there were just fence lines of properties damaged everywhere.”
BlazeAid establishes camps in communities affected by natural disasters and volunteers help families rebuild.
The Bonnay fire affected 11,500 hectares in both Tamworth and Uralla Shires.
Five properties in Uralla were impacted with the loss of livestock, fencing and feed.
