The cyclist took part in the Tamworth Cycle Club A grade criterium on Goddard Lane.
It was a fast-paced race for the six riders in it.
The fast pace saw the A grade group lap the B grade riders twice.
There were no significant breakaway efforts before a bunch sprint eventually sorted the riders out.
In what was probably his first A grade win, Luke Deasey was triumphant with Munday finishing a close second.
Mick Sherwood finished in third and Darren Taylor came fourth.
In the B grade race, Dave Menzies took the win in a sprint finish from Luke O'Connor while Joe Kelly rolled across the line in third place with Warren Clark coming fourth.
In C grade, Nick Reid took the spoils over Murray Russell in second.
Peter Nash finished in third with Greg Johnstone claiming fourth.
Sophie Johnstone won the junior race in front of Josh Deasey, Sophia Butler and Oliver Traill.
Next weekend, the interclub series will be back on the agenda.
Armidale is set to host the criterium race on Saturday afternoon.
