“This is the most prize money ever raced for in Armidale,” Jockey Club secretary manager Jim Dedes told The Express.
“It’s a first for us.”
The showcase meeting will see seven races worth $30,000 with the eighth race at $40,000.
“There will also be Fashions on the Field with prizes up for grabs,” he said.
“We’ll have a flower wall where the ladies can get a beautiful photo.”
Gates open at 11:30am with ladies, of course, getting free entry and a complimentary glass of champagne on arrival.
But there’s also something for the blokes.
“We’ve got a car display put on by the Classic and Specialist Car Club of Northern NSW,” Mr Dedes said.
“We’re really looking forward to the day and it’s a first for Armidale.
“We hope to make it a success and to keep it going for next year.”
