UNE students complete The Navigator unit at Sydney School of Entrepreneurship

Three UNE students – Henry Mollet, Stephanie Cox and Miles Archibald – completed the newly established Sydney School of Entrepreneurship course last weekend.

The trio were among a cohort of 40 budding entrepreneurs from across NSW, who formed the very first group to complete The Navigator unit at Sydney School of Entrepreneurship (SSE).

The pilot unit saw students from across the state take part in online and face-to-face study, where students gained a deepened understanding of entrepreneurial mindset.

Mapping the entrepreneurial ecosystem through the Massive Ecosystem Scavenger Hunt (MESH) enabled students to understand the Sydney startup community through experiential learning, an innovative approach used at SSE. 

Stephanie Cox is currently completing a combined Bachelor of Agriculture and Bachelor of Business at the University of New England. She is also the owner of Southern Cross Electrical Service which builds and installs stand-alone solar units, where she works part time.

With a keen interest in business and developing an understanding of the entrepreneurial space, Stephanie relished the opportunity to participate in SSE and increase her knowledge of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

“SSE has been a great exercise in increasing my understanding of the bigger picture. I’ve always loved the idea of launching my own start-up so I’m looking forward to coming back to Tamworth and seeing where there are gaps in the market for me to develop my next idea,” said Cox.

SSE CEO Nick Kaye said it was inspirational to see such diverse and talented students from right across the state.

“Our students represent a variety of disciplines including medicine, botany, engineering, design, law and technology to name a few,” he said. “With a thirst to learn and support one another, they have been a true reflection of SSE and our value in cross-disciplinary learning.”

When fully operational, at least 1000 students each year will participate in SSE courses and activities during their degree or TAFE program, with many more taking part in a program of co-curricular activities including workshops, hackathons, educational boot camps and networking events.
