I would like to share my story about studying abroad in Australia.
There are two primary reasons why I study abroad in Australia. To begin with, I found the advantages of western education when I completed two study tours in Australia at the ages of 13 and 14. Compared with the education in Taiwan, the diverse methods of education including lecture, tutorial and practical, effectively and efficiently provide knowledge to students in Australia.
Thus, I chose my major in applied English in order to cultivate the capabilities of English for studying abroad in Australia. Thankfully, I graduated as the most outstanding student when I was in high school.
In addition, nursing employee welfare has been a serious area of concern in Taiwan. Nowadays, the problem, which is lack of registered nurses, continually exists in Taiwan due to overloaded working hours and low salary. Hence, I was elected as the only university representative exchange student to Griffith University in Brisbane after I had achieved a major in Bachelor of Nursing in Taiwan.
Meanwhile, I worked as an assistant with my nursing vice-professor for three years at the university so that I could acquire more working experience in the nursing area.
I also dream to volunteer in poor countries for many years to provide sufficient aid.
After accomplishing a Bachelor of Nursing in Taiwan, I studied the requirement of English for one year. However, I struggled to study abroad for two reasons. At first, it was hard for me to achieve the band which is the English requirement of the university. Moreover, it was quite difficult for me to live away from my family for such a long time.
Nevertheless, the love and the faith of my parents (especially, my mother, who was a registered nurse for 20 years) gave me the strength I needed.
Thus, I came to Australia last March by myself. My parents have supported me through the hard times I have encountered since I have been in Australia. All their encouragement during my study period not only makes me understand the importance of nursing, but also helps solve the difficulties I encounter. Without their support, I would have found it difficult to go through the hard times by myself.
My dreams for the future are fabulous. I hope to be an excellent registered nurse for many years, just like my mother, who has influenced me so much during my life time. All she gave me makes me realise the meaning of helping people.
Hence, I also dream to volunteer in poor countries for many years to provide sufficient aid. The children my family has adopted in India obtain a better quality of life after being given the hope they need in their countries.
In addition, I also dream to own a Taiwanese bubble milk tea shop in Australia after retiring from my nursing career. That is because bubble milk is my favorite drink in Taiwan and I would like to share the experience with Australians.
Most important of all, I dream to travel around the world with my family in the future. We all love travel after going to several countries. Eventually, I would like to show my appreciation to my family who has always played an important role in my life.
