It was to rename the F10 Room of the College the Gwenda Shannon Room in honour of Ms Shannon OAM who is the first and until now the only President of Friends of the Old Teachers’ College.
It recognises her tireless work as president of FOTC, formed in 1997, caring for the building and returning it to life as a centre for educational and cultural activities.
The event was chaired by Graham Wilson OAM and the opening ceremony performed by former Armidale High School principal and former chairman of the Teachers’ College Council, Gus Plater.
The Gwenda Shannon Room, with the original College History Room, is open each weekday from 2pm til 4pm.
Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact the College on 0401 760 238.
