A late decision to enter a side in the three-day tournament paid off as the side managed to match it with some of the competition’s best.
It was really good to play some solid, hard netball against other towns and associations.
“The division that was ranked that Bathurst came first and Hawkesbury City came second,” captain Sophie Sincock said.
“Although we lost to Hawkesbury City, we really stuck it to them in the first half and we were actually winning at one stage.”
The Armidale team called upon some of their young stars to step up for the opens division and Sincock said they finished the tournament with their heads held high.
“The younger girls stepped up and played really solid three hard days of netball,” she said.
“They really showcased their skills and it was really fantastic for them to experience that when some of them haven't experience state championships, coming from state age.
“We didn't end up in first to fifth place but we got a few wins and a draw.
“We can build on that and start training and get a really full force team in action.”
