Along with current NRL players Latrell Mitchell, Joel Thompson and Connor Watson, Johns and Fittler will put the 28-man squad through a series of tests, cultural workshops and on-field positional skills training sessions at SportUNE. NSWRL Coaching Analyst Matt Parish said it is a special experience for some of the local players.
“It is a great opportunity for these boys to work with some of their past and current heroes and experience the same Origin Pathways Program that New South Wales Rugby League runs for elite teenagers at Narrabeen,” he said.
“It is a real privilege to have the calibre of people involved and the use of the first-class facilities at the University of New England.”
They will arrive on Sunday afternoon before departing again on Monday.
