The new installation will help reduce the centre’s operational costs and lighten their carbon footprint.
A saving that will be passed on to community members who utilise the preschool’s services.
The project will also help demonstrate to the young children who attend the school how renewable energy resources can be used.
It comes in addition to the centre’s existing environmental education program that uses real life examples for sustainable living including a vegetable garden, worm farming and composting, native gardens and strategies for being water wise.
The funding is part of the Armidale Regional Council’s Stronger Communities Grants program.
