Ben Venue’s boys’ cricket team have been busy preparing themselves for next week’s NSW PSSA cricket knockout finals in Maitland.
At an assembly on Thursday, the team were presented with special caps to mark their success in making the state’s final four.
Captain Ben Heagney said there is plenty of excitement and a few nerves among the team and said the preparation has been great in the lead up to next Tuesday’s game.
“On Tuesday we went to the TAS nets to have a bat on the turf because some boys haven’t played on turf yet,” he said
“It went well, some of the boys batted better than they usually do so they went well seeing as it was their first time.
Heagney played for North West at representative level recently and said the experience helped with his game.
“Just being at North West, that would have helped a lot, playing a representative game and then going back in and playing [with the school team].”
