Seven of Armidale’s most promising young cricket talents have been selected for Central North’s under 14’s and under 16’s sides.

Henry Smith, Henry Sindel, Jackson Gwynne and Kieran Dennis were named in the squad to compete against NSW Country’s best in the under 16's Bradman Cup tournament in Newcastle on January 16-19 next year.
Under 14’s players Benji Marshall, Nick Page and Cotter Litchfield will play in Griffith on January 9-12 as part of the Kookaburra Cup.
Armidale District Cricket’s junior vice-president Michael Dennis said it was a massive achievement for the city to have so many locals picked in the squad.
"I don't know if we had have had that many from Armidale in the Central North team before,” he said.
"It is quite an achievement because the Central North zone stretches from Maitland, Newcastle right up to Tenterfield and out to Moree.” Dennis said it is a credit to the strength of cricket in Armidale and highlighted Jackson Gwynne’s performances with the ball as being key to his selection.
"Jackson Gwynne, I suppose you could call him the bolter but he has worked hard in the last 18 months,” he said.
"We now have a 15 year old playing first grade in Armidale cricket. He hit a few runs on the weekend too which didn't do his chances any harm.
