A DEALER has been jailed for peddling the drug ice in Armidale after he was found guilty in court.
Daniel James Bridge was sentenced to 18 months behind bars for supplying a prohibited drug, using equipment to administer illegal drugs and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
The 24-year-old was found with 2.26g of ice when he was stopped by Armidale Target Action Group (TAG) officers in April. He was also found with $900 in cash.
Magistrate Michael Holmes said the drug ice was devastating communities and a jail term had to be imposed.
New England Acting Inspector Matt Crotty said the sentence reinforces how the justice system views the scourge of ice.
“Drug supply remains a top priority for New England police. We have seen how those people addicted to ice can have an enormous impact on the safety of our community,” he said.
“Those people making profit from other's addictions, who in turn are forced to prey on our communities to fuel their habits, will be relentlessly targeted by our police.”
