Uralla bowling club’s senior bowls pair of Judy Bray and Pam Westbury have plenty to celebrate after finishing the state championships as semi-finalists.
At the event in Forster, the Uralla team started with a victory over Kingscliff Beach before defeating Warilla.
After their opening round wins, Bray and Westbury took on Windsor but were defeated 23-12.
Windsor went on to win the tournament after beating Charlestown 18-16 in the final. Sixteen supporters travelled with the pair to cheer them on in the inaugural competition.
“There was a lot of spectators,” Bray said.
“The whole green was surrounded by spectators, it was really quite good.”
It is quite a big achievement for Uralla Women’s Bowling Club who have just 12 players compared to some of their competitors with up to 150.
“It is a bit of a feather in your cap for a small club,” Bray said.
The pair plan to come back next year.
