Izzy Winter was selected for the women’s teams while Harry Rowbottom, Harry Sinclair, Ben Dye, Lachlan Harris, Jye Saxby and Lachlan Williamson were chosen in their age groups to tour overseaso. Williamson was chosen for the under 16’s team and is excited to join his Australian teammates to tour Italy.
He said he played outdoor soccer before taking up the indoor sport and enjoys the speed of futsal. "We had trials through school and I just started playing because I play a lot of outdoor football so I just thought I would just come an join,” he said.
"It is a quick game and you are always near the ball so you are always doing something.” Duval coach Tom Model said having so many players selected in Australian sides is a credit to the school’s sports programs.
"It is quite amazing to have students recognized at high levels but that is not our mindset, we emphasise participation,” he said.
