ACTING Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce spoke from Armidale on Wednesday, asking Bill Shorten to stand down Senator Sam Dastyari.
Mr Joyce put it to Shorten after Dastyari failed to explain his position with the donations scandal, at a press conference on Tuesday.
“Senator Dastyari went out and gave a press conference yesterday... that’s one word for it… train wreck, that’s another word for it.
“We still don’t have any answers. The question he had to answer was this - please explain the correlation between receiving the money and changing the position that’s been held by the government Coalition and also the Labour party, on a key defense section of our nation,” he said.
Mr Joyce’s response comes after being grilled by media this week over his history of donations from mining magnate Gina Rinehart, and whether there is a difference between that and the Dastyari scandal.
Mr Joyce continues to defend the donations saying that the difference was “auditable”.
