SOUTH Armidale are putting the finishing touches on their preparation for this weekend’s McDonald’s Northern Inland premier league grand final.
Their opponents Oxley Vale Attunga head into the match as favourites after they qualified for their ninth straight decider with a win against Demon Knights last Saturday.
The Scorpions faced the Mushies in 2014’s decider and have a tough task of toppling the reigning premiers.
Coach Ben Wright said although his side aren’t phased with the underdog status.
“We still have a few players in our side from the 2014 final and come Saturday at 3pm they will be giving their all to make amends for that day,” he said.
“We believe we have enough experience and youth in our side to win this title.”
“We know it will be a big task coming in as underdogs but I think our boys will take it in their stride and show everyone on Saturday what we are capable of.”
A late venue change will see the side face off at Armidale’s Bellevue Oval.
Wright said he hoped to see a packed grandstand with plenty of local supporters cheering on the home side to grand final glory.
“To anyone that has their Saturday afternoon free to come out and support your local team against Tamworth,” he said.
“[It] promises to be a great spectacle between the two best sides from the Northern Inland Premier League locking horns at a pristine venue In Bellevue.”
