Motor Neurone Disease sufferer Clare Vickery received a lift from the Masonic Memorial Trust of Queensland last week when they donated $2000 to the family.
The donation was a response to an Armidale Express story on the Vickerys last month, which told how the family of four moved to Armidale after Clare was diagnosed with MND.
The Vickerys have used the money to buy a new lifting chair, which will increase Clare’s independence and quality of life.
“We’re incredibly appreciative of the support that the Masonic Lodge has given,” Clare said.
“It's another demonstration of the community helping one of their own, and it reaffirms our decision to move to Armidale.”
Lodge Armidale presented the cheque to the family after local residents Malcolm and Ingrid White sent the article to the trust.
MND is a death sentence for most sufferers and there is no cure. To help the family, visit www.mycause.com.au/page/130947/courage-for-clare
