LOCAL group, Sustainable Living Armidale, will host a forum in two weeks’ time.
Guest speaker Mark Ogge, from the progressive think tank The Australia Institute, will present Mining The Truth.
A statement from Sustainable Living Armidale (SLA) said Mr Ogge’s presentation would reveal some surprising details about a number of the lesser-known effects of the recent mining boom upon various sectors of the Australian economy such as tourism, education and manufacturing.

Previously, as operations director at Beyond Zero Emmissions, he helped initiate and direct the award-winning Zero Carbon Australia 2020 Project.
Mr Ogge’s current research focuses on engagement with industries and communities affected by the expansion of the coal and gas mining industries.
The SLA Forum Mining The Truth will be held on Thursday, September 1, at 7pm at Kent House in Faulkner Street (opposite Central Park).
All are welcome, and a light supper will be provided for a gold coin donation.
