Carers NSW invites anyone caring for a family member or friend to come along to the Armidale City Bowling Club on Tuesday for a free day of fun and relaxation.
The event, held in celebration of 40 Years of Carers NSW, runs from 10am to 2pm. Throughout the day there will be free health and wellbeing workshops, including seated yoga and mindfulness, complimentary massages, art and craft workshops, information stalls and delicious food.
The free event provides carers with an opportunity to take a break from the responsibilities of their caring role, to focus on their own health and wellbeing and to connect with other carers in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
“Celebrating 40 Years of Carers NSW is an opportunity for carers to acknowledge the importance of the role they play within our community and also an opportunity for them to focus on themselves, even just for a short time,” Carers NSW CEO, Elena Katrakis, said.
Parking is available at the Armidale City Bowling Club, alternatively transport to / from the event can be arranged with Community Transport by contacting tct@uralla.nsw.gov.au or 02 6778 6450.
There are more than 2.8 million family and friend carers in Australia providing 36 million hours of care and support every week to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, drug and/or alcohol dependency, chronic condition, terminal illness or who is frail.
Anyone at any time can become a carer and this event is also an opportunity to raise awareness among all Australian’s about the diversity of carers and their caring roles.
