Qantas passengers are guaranteed a smoother ride on at least part of their journey thanks to a new boarding ramp at Armidale Regional Airport.
The ‘QRamp’ will make boarding and alighting faster and easier for all passenger, but will especially benefit passengers with restricted mobility. Armidale Qantas Link manager Andrew Hall said essentially it means we no longer need the use our passenger lift.
“It’s also good for small children or anyone who finds stairs a bit difficult,” he said. “People that couldn’t use the steps before can now use the ramp which just make it easier.”
The ramp will service Qantas’ current 50 seat Dash8 300 aircraft and is also comparable with the larger 72 seat Q400 aircraft, which are expected to service Armidale in the future. QantasLink Chief Executive Officer John Gissing said the airline continues to look at ways to improve the customer experience for all customers.
“I’m delighted that we’re rolling out our newest ramp in Armidale; we now have the QRamp deployed across the majority of our network and we are the only regional airline in Australia with this innovation,” Mr Gissing said.
