POPULAR French sport Parkour has leapt into Armidale.
Run by Armidale PCYC, the new sport involves running and jumping around an obstacle course at speed.
Coach Igor Ivannikov began teaching the class at the gymnastics club in March.
He said it has huge numbers in urban areas but the sport has proved popular in the local community with 16 people aged nine to 40 signing up to participate.
“It is popular in big cities because they have more obstacles, the landscape of big cities and is more convenient for doing this kind of activity,” Ivannikov said.
“In Armidale there are not so many places where people can run, jump, overcome obstacles so we decided to start this in the gymnastics club because it has the facilities which allow us to do some tricks.”
Parkour runs on Saturdays from 3pm at the Gymnastics Centre for ages eight and over.
