ARMIDALE Fire Station Commander Chris Gates says the cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
"At this stage, the cause of the fire is under investigation and we are going to hand it over to the police for further investigation," Mr Gates said.
"We're not ruling anything in or out."
He said the crew got the call for help just after 9.30am and arrived on the scene "five minutes later".
"We immediately started putting water on the fire but due the to ferocity of the flames, we had to withdraw the crews and begin attacking it from the outside."
FIRECREWS have extinguished a blaze that tore through an Ohio Street home in Armidale on Tuesday morning.
Three firetrucks arrived on the scene to fight the blaze, with the situation still very much unfolding.
Motorists should avoid the area if possible.
