WITH temperatures plummeting, these knee rugs couldn’t have come at a better time for Ken Thompson Lodge residents.
Members of Quilters and Patchworkers of New England delivered the mini quilts to the lodge yesterday, after many hours of hard work at the sewing machine.
Quilter Robyn Wood said the presentation was a happy tradition for the not-for-profit organisation.
“We’ve been doing this since 2012,” Ms Wood said.
“We do it to give back to our community.”
Activities coordinator at Ken Thompson Lodge, which is part of the Royal Freemasons’ Benevolent Institution Armidale Masonic Village, Coral Thrift said residents would put the quilts to good use.
“I think it’s just lovely,” Ms Thrift said.
“They’re very much appreciated I can tell you when it comes to winter.” The quilting group meets from the first and third Thursday of the month at 10am and the second and fourth Wednesday at 7pm.
“From July we will be meeting at the Community Centre at the Masonic Village,” Ms Wood said.
“Each year members make a quilt to raffle for a local charity group.
