Armidale Dumaresq SES Unit Controller Josh Osborne said the four Armidale volunteers worked over three days in a recovery operation that required the members to descend into the gorge.
“It was a very complex operation that required the team to descend through the gorge which they began around 1pm and did not come out until midnight that night,” Mr Osborne said.
The four-unit members received a Commissioner’s Certificates of appreciation for their work.
“I am continually taken aback by their professionalism and dedication to the public safety of their community,” Mr Osborne said.
Those interested in volunteering with the SES are being invited to attend training sessions every Wednesday from 6.30pm at 203 Mann Street.
