This year marks the 30th anniversary of the event, and Packsaddle’s Lynne Walker is using the opportunity to tip her cap at the founding four’s work.
“There were four founding members of the Packsaddle team: June Atherton; Pat Elkin; Benoni Pearson and Beverly Wright,” Ms Walker said.
“Of these four, two are still alive – Pat as the dynamic patron and June, who is involved as much as she can be.
“Many other women have been part of the team over the years and the current team consists of Patron Pat, Glenda Kupczyk-Romanczuk and Moira Lloyd as co-chairs, Michelle Bookallil, Julia Rose, Frances Alter, Liz Fulloon, Julia Hardman, Michelle Schouten, Anne White and [myself].
“Each member contributes her own particular set of skills.”
The team of dedicated volunteers work together to support the New England Regional Art Museum.
After 30 years, the art sale has become a favourite for collectors in the region as well as from across the country.
“Each year the Packsaddle fundraising exhibition exhibits in excess of 100 art works and prints for two weeks and is one of the biggest selling art exhibitions in regional NSW,” Ms Walker said.
“The exhibition comprises a diverse range of paintings, prints and sculptures from well-known Australian artists, hung alongside young and emerging artists, with works contributed by major Sydney galleries and individual artists.
“The consistently high standard of work on show in the exhibitions over the past 30 years has meant that Packsaddle has grown into an exhibition which attracts a large audience of collectors and art lovers alike.”
The exhibition opens on Friday, October 30 at 6pm.
Viewing is from 5pm.
Renowned Australian artist Idris Murphy will be opening this year’s exhibition.
