The event marked the 10th anniversary of the year group’s final HSC examinations in 2005.
Attendees were treated to a performance by Sydney based act Goldheist (whose lead singer is Armidale’s own Hester Fraser) along with a dance set by local DJ Cho Cho.
The event was attended by 80 alumni, their partners and teachers including the group’s year adviser Michael Lord. In a speech he made to the group, Mr Lord thanked those who had travelled from interstate and overseas to attend the Reunion and expressed his pride and admiration for what he feels was a truly unique year.
Also present on the night were school captains Samuel Mulligan and Anushia Constantine who both gave speeches with Mrs Constantine even producing part of a speech she wrote and presented 10 years ago saying “so why is the period of adolescence so important? Perhaps because it’s a time when we develop our values, opinions and experiences, shaped by those around us, which will, whether we know it or not, leave a footprint to last a lifetime”.
Event organiser Thomas Hancock said: “The AHS Class of 2005 10-year reunion has been a fantastic way to reconnect in the age of social media. While getting everyone back together in Armidale on this special night has had its challenges, the number of people who have made the journey are a testament to the special connection that we all continue to share.”
