The open day attracted about 100 locals to the fire station on Barney Street.
Visitors were able to meet local fire fighters, tour the station, look over the trucks and receive important fire-safety information.
Fire Prevention Week highlighted the household fire dangers that can occur in winter, which is traditionally FRNSW’s busiest time of year, as residents switch on heating and drying devices.
The physical, emotional and financial consequences of a house fire can be devastating so prevention is always the best policy.
It only takes planning and common sense to dramatically reduce fire risk.
The local fire fighters also cooked a sausage sizzle and gave out fire-safety information packs.
Armidale fire fighters enjoyed the chance to show the public the importance of fire safety around the home.
Fire can take hold in just three minutes, but it only takes a second to prevent one.
