The 63-year-old man’s hand was caught in the motor of the bulldozer working off the Thunderbolts Way, just out of Uralla, on Thursday afternoon.
The man suffered significant injuries.
A doctor and paramedic from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter stabilised the patient before he was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
He was listed in a stable condition.
