Wood will travel to China later this year as part of pony club’s gymkhana and showjumping team
“It is very exciting and I am honoured to be able to represent Australia,” he said.
“I can’t wait.”
Wood spends many hours in the saddle preparing for competition with showjumping his favourite of the disciplines.
His selection comes off the back of a win for NSW at the Pony Club National Championships in the gymkhana and a third place in the jumping. The competition in China will be tough, with riders only having a few days to get to know their mount for the event.
“From my estimation and mum’s we thought it was about a week,” Wood said.
He said he will prepare by spending as much time in the saddle as he can.
“It’s pretty much all I can do, I just have to keep riding the horses that I have got,” he said.
