The party made the announcement on Monday, and Mr Good was quick to highlight issues, where he said the Nationals had failed the electorate.

“They failed to stop council mergers, the’re failing to stop the sell-off of our railway line for rail trains and they failed farmers when they scrapped drought relief funding,” Mr Good said.

“Apart from that, we are entirely sick of the billion dollar budget projects occurring in Sydney, being funded by the state government, yet there is little funding in regional NSW, particularly the Northern Tablelands.

“I’m thinking of the Newell Highway and the New England Highway, in some places you could barely call them a goat track,” he said.

Mr Good has been a member of the party for about five years, and he said it was the first time he has been a member of a political party.

“I was attracted to a conservative party that mostly encapsulated my beliefs, (including) freedom to live a life devoid of government intrusion, and a party that seemed to care more about regional NSW than the incumbent Nationals,” he said.

The next state election is scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019.
