Library Lovers’ Day encourages bookworms to get in on the mystery and thrill.
Manager Ian Greenhalgh said library members are encouraged to go on a blind date with a secret book or DVD.
“We will have a display of books and DVDs that are wrapped so people won’t know what they’re taking home,” he said.
“It’s a bit of fun and we hope people will spend an enjoyable evening with their mystery guest.”
Libraries across Australia will take part in Library Lovers’ Day, the Australian Library and Information Association’s annual take on Valentine’s Day.
ALIA’s activities this year include inviting authors and other high profile people to write a love letter about libraries.
“In keeping with this theme, Armidale Library will be asking patrons to share the love with us by writing a little love note,” Mr Greenhalgh said.
“Library staff at the front counter will be handing out cards for people to write their love letters.
“All these letters will go on display so everyone can see what impact libraries have on their community.”
The Blind Dates and Love Letters will begin at the Armidale Library on 14 February until 17 Saturday.
